Meenakshi got married to Mukesh Walke in 2015. She was a housewife for two years. After the birth of her son Abhisar, financial burdens on the family increased, so she had to look for a job as well. Meenakshi began carving wooden items and creating thread jewelry from her home.

This continued until 2018 when tragedy struck. After losing their daughter during the childbirth process, Meenakshi and her husband decided not to work anymore. She thought that the loss was due to excessive work,” says Mukesh. “But I insisted that she continue working, so it would keep her mind off the accident.”

Even though she didn’t jump back into work right away, Mukesh’s words inspired her to go out and explore. She found out about an initiative by the Forestry Department, where for 70 days they’d be training people in the craft of bamboo arts. After knowing wood carving for some time, Meenakshi decided to enrol in a course.

She was interested in crafts when she took this course but didn’t know anything about bamboo before taking this course. After learning it, she felt confident enough to do it.

During the training, we were provided with a hand toolkit. When I got back from my trip, I started making products out of bamboo that I had bought at just Rs. 50.

People who heard about her work from others began ordering products from her. At this time, she was also involved in an event organized by the government in Nagapore, where she saw how much people appreciate bamboo products and further fuelled her work and creativity.

She had her breakthrough moment at the Miss Climate beauty pageant in 2019 when organizers reached out to her. They wanted someone who could create an eco-friendly crown out of bamboo. She was hired after submitting several sketches and went on to make 16 crown pieces for the pageant.

“I was really impressed by their interest in my work and they even asked me if I would be willing to participate in the competition.” “It was a big achievement for us,” she adds.

What is HIIH all about ?

HIIH was born out of the love for craft. The varied materials and how they react and transform with an artisan’s hand is one of the most fascinating things that drive us each day. H2H is a company that believes with good design which blends functionality with design & attention to detail, every piece can lend a lot of character to the spaces it adorns.
Most of our designs are inhouse which we work with a multitude of artisans who specialize in their skill sets to craft them. We hope to someday touch every home with a product crafted by our artisans.

Looking back, what made you start this brand ?

While I practiced Interior design, clients would always look abroad to source for their accessories. Convincing them that craftsman in India could make products just as suited or well done was difficult. Indian accessories in those days was looked at as either very Indian in their aesthetics or the feeling was always that it wouldn’t be as well finished as a Chinese or an Italian product. The belief that our handcrafted products could have the same finish and can work for even the most modern homes drove us to start the H2H journey.

What/ who has been your inspiration and motivation behind this Entrepreneur journey ?

Back when I was working under Arch Shaukat Mukhi as an Interior designer, it was actually him who pushed me to step out on my own. He saw I was ready much before I did.

For H2H, it is the artisans that drive us every single day. Their love for their craft & hunger to be able to grow and create new products with us inspire & motivate us every single day. Clients, especially the enlightened ones who buy for the love of handmade, motivate us to test new mediums & methods with the varied materials.

Any challenges you would like to share with our readers as an Entrepreneur?

Understanding and being able to communicate your story to a customer is one of the most important part of an entrepreneur’s journey. Advice when you begin will come from all directions, being clear on what you expect from your brand and company will empower you to sift through all that and use only and only which would work for you. Most importantly, understanding and accepting that you cannot and will never be great in all aspects of running a business, hence hiring the right talent for those aspects.

We as entrepreneur’s sometimes tend to live in our bubble, but we learn very early in the journey we also need to look at our businesses from outside in apart from inside out.

What will be your message to all other women entrepreneurs?

As women some of us are extremely bad at numbers. Running a business is a passion yes but for you to ensure that the passion is fueled for a long duration, the business needs to sustain. Accounts are something most of us hate but that is one of the most important aspects that we need to grasp very early in the business.

We are inherently multi taskers and caretakers, this is our super power, use it well and the world is ours ! Adapting to an ever changing landscape, whether it is a jump from brick & mortar to e-commerce or even competitiveness needs to become a 2nd nature.

As far as my venture “DISHA“ {transcend, transform, triumph, together} is concerned, it’s working towards bringing awareness about the facts which had never been talked about openly.

People need a place where they are comfortable talking and learning about the topics which are not mainstream. This information is needed as people are awakening. People need to know the real art of living, unfortunately which has not been taught in schools, hence its difficult for the society to adapt the facts and reality they can’t see, as they are brought up this way.

Therefore they are delusional and there are so many factors which are blocking there spiritual growth. Therefore DISHA will help people learn, experience, transform and evolve together. I really feel blessed and grateful that I am guided to serve.

I really hope “DISHA” will light the way of spirituality and may the ready souls draw their spiritual nourishment from Disha.

Your Motivation & Inspiration in life ? Your guiding force?

My inquisitiveness, my urge to know more and more and to seek knowledge, my anxiety to connect with the source is my greatest motivation.

I am an ardent devotee of Maa Durga. She is the only inspiration in my life. She emboldens me to be awakened, to live virtuously, to love each and every being compassionately. Few years ago I got her idol and I am totally spell binded by her. Her eyes is the guiding and driving force for me. Whenever I feel disconnected, I spend time with her.

Her gaze immediately align my body, mind and soul with the divine. She is the only source of my happiness. She pushes me to move forward on the path of ascension and imbued me with oneness.

Why have you chosen Crystal Healing as Career ?

“When you are diligently engrossed in your passion nothing can cease to effectuate consummation.”

I haven’t chosen my career, infact I haven’t chosen anything in my life. What I did was just learning, serving and practicing what I preach. I kept asking myself everyday how I can be of help to humanity and being optimistic and seeker had made my journey an enlightening experience.

I had never thought of turning healing/ spirituality into a profession. I strongly believe God has chosen me to serve. I go with the flow and higher guidance for each and every decision, as I am a firm believer of clairesentience.

I am not only a Crystal Healer, rather I am expert practitioner of Pranic Healing, Angel Healing, Sound Therapy, Vastu, Pranic Fengsui and many more.

Being connected with Theosophical society of New York, I also talk about the influence of inner sciences and esoteric teachings on humanity.

I am blessed that I am able to help people for the problems that they think cannot be solved. Assisting people and helping them is a mediation for me and it helps me evolve because service develops the inner power within you.

What do you suggest to women who go through mental distress and depressions?

The first thing I tell any person be a men or a women, who is suffering from mental distress or depression is Pranic Psychotherapy.

It’s a pranic healing for psychological issues, where the healer takes out all the distress, anxiety, depression and stress from patients chakras and aura over few sessions, so that they shall be able to follow instructions and get strength to come out of the predicament they are going through.

In majority of the cases depression occurs when you look out for others appreciation and love.

So they have to stop looking for someone who can complete them, as we all are complete in ourselves.
They also need to understand that “everything in life is either an opportunity to grow, or an obstacle to keep you from growing.”

Just as they have created their present condition through their past. They can create there wonderful future through their present deeds. So they don’t have to fix the problem rather fix their thinking.

I highly suggest them to learn Arhatic Yoga, because the single most important aspect of achieving psychological and spiritual health is learning to own your personal power. This has changed life of many for best, including mine.

I also want them to follow this simple mantra to save their personality in this incarnation.

You should – Never Expect

Never Demand

Never Assume

You should know – Your Limits

Where you stand

Your Role

You Don’t – Get Affected

Get Jealous

Get paranoid

Just go with the flow and stay happy.

I want to remind all women that they are vested with unbelievable power, just re-empower yourselves and you will be a different personality all together.

What as per you If we ask is happiness?

I am a happy person. Happiness for me is a state of mind. My happiness cannot be altered by any external force. I am always in a state of bliss.

Happiness comes when you start living in present, when you stop looking into others and when you start letting go. Nothing can make you happy, no matter how much money, power and respect you earn or you fulfill all your desires and ambitions. But a certain vacuum will be there which can only be filled by happiness which you achieve only when you are connected with your higher self.

For me happiness is a spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude. It’s tough to explain but more to experience.

How easy or difficult it was for you to achieve this success in this field ?

“In order to succeed we must first believe that we can”. Being successful has a different meaning for me. Success to me isn’t about how much money I make, its about the difference I bring in someone’s life. Moving on the spiritual path is challenging and crucial.

For me epiphany changed the way I see the universe now. Spirituality turned my traipse heart into pellucid utopia. It has given me peace of mind and elevated my spirit. life had never been a piece of cake for me. I had my share of wretchedness. There were many down in dumps. My melancholy heart was always seeking pandiculation, which I eventually found in spiritual niche. Now I am more phlegmatic and unruffled with quesient mind. Living at peace with a placid heart is a grace of God.

The drastic vicissitudes in my life has guarded me from being perplexed and muffled anymore. No one could prophesied this renaissance which exalted me and this proved to be my biggest strength and success in life. I am so glad and blessed that my family have accepted my ideology and supported me through the very foundation of spirituality. Without there support it wouldn’t have been possible to be who I am today. Living this life spiritually, virtuously, with blissful heart and the ability vested in me by higher beings to enlighten people to a certain degree is my biggest success.

Your one liner to our readers & followers

My one liner would be.. ” Make most of this human life, its precious don’t waste it”
This life is not given to waste in anger, pride, lust, greed, gluttony or laziness. Rather it’s been given to neutralize your negative karmas and move towards illumination. We can only do this in human life. We should work towards fulfilling our soul purpose which is returning back to our source.

About AspiringShe If we ask : …

I congratulate Aspiring She for there success in such a short span and the way they are recognizing the potential and honoring women from different fields and making them realize how beautiful and strong they are. I am happy that they have taken an initiative to empower women by giving a platform to budding and established women entrepreneurs. All my best wishes to Aspiring she.

My one liner….

“Spirituality is not just doing mediation.. it’s a way of living and we must opt it for an incredibly meaningful life.”

This article explains worry becoming the most essential ingredient of learning, growing and living and shares a way to overcome it.

Vaishali Bafna

Educationist, International Brain Gym Consultant & Instructor, Education Kinesiologist,
Founder of Thinkashram Centre for learning and growth

With changing lifestyles, we have evolved and adapted ourselves to a new pattern of thought: “I need to worry in order to live to my satisfaction.” Worry has become a survival tool instead of a threat. We use this tool to expose ourselves to constant threat and keep us in survival mode so that it necessitates the actions needed for us to move forward in our lives.

Worry has permeated into every aspect of our lives. We worry about our work, careers, hobbies, relationships, children, social settings, future, past experiences and even about how to spend our free time. It has gone beyond becoming a habit or addiction; it has become an integral part of each of us, so much so, that it is easily passing down to our future generations as genetic inheritance.

A Mindful Soul is a Worry-Free Soul

While the adults have chosen to be driven by this diabolical thought, it is disheartening to see the new age childhood so inflicted by it, not giving children the choice of free thinking. Children barely learn to move and explore at the time when they are exposed to unfathomable learning targets.

They find themselves running from one skill class to another, one tuition to another, one activity to another chasing the finishing line that they can barely understand, gauge or even see. All parents feel that this is essential exposure but can one think from the mind of a child who thrives on feeling rewarded from the environment?

A child learns to sit, crawl, walk, talk, run and move in various ways by observing and imitating to be able to do what others do. In the early years, a child’s brain develops through replicating, mapping and building the different contexts of the world as he or she learns to imitate. When children are exposed to a fusillade of expected outcomes, which may not be appropriate to their developmental stage, they become confused, are unable to focus with the same zest and lose interest. What they learn over time is what they pick from such lifestyle – ‘WORRY’.

“Don’t be stuck in worries. Move to be in flow with life.”

Free movement develops mindfulness and learning develops thinking. The new age childhood is skewed where minds are pushed to think and learn but are not supported by productive movement, thus stunting the development of the brain.

Children begin to engage in structured sport activities way before engaging enough with the unstructured. They engage in cognitive learning classes with difficult targets before they develop their brain and body enough to engage with them. They learn to play musical instruments without developing the dexterity and strength for readiness. How much they learn and gain in terms of quality, no one knows; but, for sure they learn one thing – compensations.

This skewed brain development soon manifests in lack of interest, erratic behavior, socio-emotional and cognitive struggles. It is not rare to hear of a four-year-old not wanting to engage in outdoor activities, or for a student to express huge reluctance to writing. “My child is a fussy eater….My child is lazy and simply procrastinates from taking responsibility.

My teenager is unable to cope with pressure and emotions…” Parents are only left with accepting these dilemmas. Kinesiology is the promise for the present childhood. It not only enables whole brain development but more importantly, it facilitates it through goal driven movements – simple but profound and essential for the development that has somehow not been
explored enough while growing up.

Thinkashram, focusing on specialized programs anchored through mindful thinking, is an organization promoting kinesiology based education for all ages across a wide spectrum of personal and professional growth and development related objectives; it educates children and adults not only of what they want to learn but also empower them with understanding and improving their
mindfulness.

Children attend personalized programs for diverse reasons – academic, socio-emotional, behavioral – where a wholesome and multi-faceted plan secures them with a growth mindset to life instead of a worried mindset. A specialized parent-child developmental program is also offered for babies in their first year.

Private consultations are offered to teenagers and adults to facilitate them to move forward when they feel stuck in any aspect of their lives, be it for education, work, relationship, self, etc.

Sanjana Shah comes from an Art and Real Estate background. She took over her family’s art gallery business – Tao Art Gallery, which is an established cultural hub of Indian art in Mumbai for twenty years. In the role of the Creative Director, she co-curates exhibitions, writes concept notes, ideates on new potential collaborations, and manages the gallery’s brand image and sales. She is also working as an independent Art Curator and Consultant both in India and internationally.

As an extension of her role as an Art Consultant, she works part-time in her family company, Group Satellite. She oversees the interiors and aesthetics and engages with clients and interior designers for art sales post-completion.

Your thoughts on the significance of art in Interior Designing in an Indian Context.

Coming from a real-estate background, I can personally attest to the immense value addition that good art can bring to ones home. Any interior design is incomplete without the finishing touches of complimenting art and accessories. Especially today with the Contemporary advent of more minimalist, chic and monochromatic interiors, art brings that necessary and refreshing pop factor to the entire look.

I wouldn’t say ‘good art’ refers to expensive art, because that tends to be a common misconception in India! Good art is any art that speaks to its audience, has roots in the current dialogue of art trends, and works well with the aesthetics of a place.

How art form has changed over the last decade in India?

My gallery, Tao Art Gallery, has witnessed the changing landscape of Indian art over the past two decades. From the times when the works of our Modern Indian Masters like Hussain and Raza graced the walls in the early 2000’s, to the 2008 financial crisis and the subsequent pick-up in the last decade with the ent ands at the brink of transition again as we enter the new decade, especially with the new normal triggered by this pandemic! The nature of the art scene in Mumbai in the initial years of the gallery limited intellectual and creative growth for both the art consumer and the curator.

Today however things are different, the importance and value of art is rising again and a new meaning is associated with the term ‘art appreciation’ in India. This is the time to expand and encompass a wider idea of art that goes beyond the canvas, curation that explores dimensions, ideas, and parallel thinking in order to open the mind of the viewer.

I believe art can be found in every single thing: installations, theatre, dance, literature, philosophies, music, all of these human expressions are an art in and of itself! It is necessary to create hubs that combine all of these elements into one symbiotic space. Digital too, is now a medium that must be explored thoroughly and virtual art rooms are now an irreplaceable feature for all shows. We are truly in the Contemporary era now and the art form isn’t bound or limited by any mediums or the four white walls of a gallery.

Your Journey as a woman entrepreneur, any challenges you have faced so far while?

I am perhaps not an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word because I have taken forward the mantle of a family business. But alongside I have also expanded independently my passion of being an Art Curator and Consultant, both in India and Internationally. I have also initiated new avenues in Tao that help the gallery to engage with a larger audience and occupy a more meaningful space in the art world!

I founded the #EducateForArt series with the sole purpose of conserving the rich heritage of global art and allowing audiences to explore the wonders of art in a truly experiential manner through wholesome workshops for kids and adults promoting Art Appreciation, Art History and Art Knowledge.

The journey has been incredibly fulfilling but yes, also slightly challenging. Any expansion will face resistance in the beginning just because you are nudging beyond and reaching higher. There is also the classic scenario of butting heads with the older minds in any organization when younger mindsets enter. The art world is fueled by its social networks and being able to enter that and maneuver your way successfully is a task that requires careful effort and continuous engagement.

Despite every hiccup however, the one thing that kept me going was my passion for my profession! I am lucky to be doing what I love.

How has the current pandemic changed the Art scenario

In the beginning we were all a bit skeptical about the Indian art market recovering from such a crisis! It seemed doubtful that people would want to invest in a luxury commodity like art in a situation like this. However, the art world’s quick innovation and adaptability changed the game and by August, virtual shows and online auctions were booming! People definitely seem to now realize the increased value of living in beautiful homes when stuck indoors for such a prolonged period of time. Many people want to begin their art collection or re-decorate their homes.

Another great development has been the rise of creativity in this period. Any sort of crisis tends to fuel expression and our artists have not held back. A lot of good works have come out of this period and most with reasonable prices, perhaps triggering a newer trend of affordable art. The art from this time will definitely be a special collectible for connoisseurs and collectors to have and remember for decades to come.

From a technical perspective of course the first change was taking art shows entirely virtual. To keep online shows successful, the key will be to choose the art that can be done justice to when viewed online and the thematic curation of shows has to be strong to be eye-catching at a time when everyone is trying to grab eyeballs online.

Collaborating virtually and supporting one another not just nationally, but internationally, is the way forward for the global art world. I was given the opportunity to become the Indian ambassador for the Arte Laguna Prize 20.21 during this pandemic, and I have interacted with ambassadors from different countries on Zoom. So in fact in this global lockdown, there is an increase in mutual under standing and ideation.

Art will never only be about online viewings, in my personal opinion. I have always believed that the art piece is as much about the creator as it is about the viewer. The engagement, the interaction, is crucial and can only be done thoroughly when one is physically present to see it in all its forms and angles. With multi-media increasingly coming into use in Contemporary Indian Art, most art pieces are very layered and complexly created and this complexity cannot easily be captured on camera and experienced digitally.

However, as I mentioned, technology has improved and with a 3D virtual tour it is possible to experience it online in a more than satisfactory way. This is however costly and in the long-term needs to be sustained with other types of engagement to generate sales. As curator it becomes even more crucial today for us to communicate ideas and concepts to the viewers experiencing the art digitally as to avoid anything getting lost in translation. The story-telling narrative in the art will also become even more crucial.

Your message to all our readers especially to other women entrepreneurs and professionals.

I believe that just like life, one’s business too should strive to have a balance. Especially a balance between creativity and calculation! Extremism of any kind can lead to a collapse and consistency in character and commitment is crucial for any kind of success! I feel like as a woman entrepreneur especially in fields that are male dominated, there are moments one feels undervalued or insecure.

However, I do believe that women are able to navigate life with better balance and perspective and have it in them to stay afloat no matter what. I would like to tell all my fellow women entrepreneurs and professionals that no matter what you are made to believe otherwise remember that you define who you are and who you want to become. So tap into your inner sense of self and know that sky is the limit!

I’d say it’s the mix of my problem-solving skills and my passion for fair play that got me to establish the Impact Study biz. It was taking too long to get products and services to the market and often at considerable expense; resulting in start-ups losing to the big players creating a sort of monopolization in business. I have seen how these businesses were simply struggling due to a lack of direction and a cohesive overall strategy.

Companies have been exuberantly exhausting their resources on creative and business consulting firms, only to find themselves struggling to bridge the gap between the results of the two. The ordeal of having to delegate finances and time on business consultation or brand positioning and lack of execution direction has been stunting the growth of several potential market leaders.

So as a solution, I started Impact Study Biz an amalgamation of Brand and Business strategy to help start-ups with time and budget-friendly cohesive strategy with execution tools. This provides companies with sustainable growth and access to market-creating fair opportunities for new products and services.

What are the core ideas and strategy you follow at Impact Study?

At Impact Study Biz we leverage technology and data science, to generate brand and business strategy that creates an impact in the market and brings real-world results. Our strategy is simple, we use data, we know how to read the market trends, and build predictable models through technology. The back of our backgrounds lies in branding and management; it gives us an extra advantage to bring these two things together. Our core idea is about building a fair-market. Every startup, innovator, an entrepreneur should have access to the strategy so that they can bring their products and services to consumers. That’s how we build monopsony instead of a monopoly and we do just that, we bring working strategies to this start-up and help them establish themselves and grow their business.

How can one join and learn through Impact Study?

We are always hiring, so anyone who is interested can drop in an email to contact@impactstudybiz.com with the subject “employment application ” and as we see an opportunity fit for the applications we received we hire them. We provide on the job training, we believe that theories are useful but when you actually do the work and get into the core reality of it that is what builds a useful experience.

What are the opportunities you’re building for youngsters?

We hire a lot of freshers and interns in different segments, providing them opportunity to pick from full time, part time or project related engagement. I believe everyone has their unique way of working and we encourage creativity, out of the box ideas and let them explore their own way to get things done. It’s all about building accountability, ability to take decisions, meeting KPIs without putting blinders on them. I promote independent ideas rather than conformity. This helps build them into responsible professionals.

Your Core Strengths?

I say that our superpower is problem-solving. To be able to do that effectively we are Grounded, Creative, and Audacious. It’s this combination that keeps us picking up big problems and we always find a creative solution for it. But it’s our grounded attitude, that reminds us that whatever action we take needs to bring results. Hamilton really captures the senses of your entire company with this line- “I am just like my country, Young Scrappy and Hungry”. That’s what our strength is! We value time and money, just like every other startup. hence we are accountable for our actions for our clients and we make sure that instead of asking them to dream smaller, we work hard to get them closer to their goals in a sustainable way.

Things have really changed in the Bollywood industry. In the recent times, social media and digital platforms have taken over in a big way and in this digitally fast era, definitely one has to work at a certain pace and maintain it. Now a days the memory span of the listeners and audience is very short.

Also there are a lot of singers in the industry and various new voices keep coming up. In order to maintain one’s identity and uniqueness therefore becomes very important. For me, this journey has spanned more than 13 years now.

Having started my career in 2006, I am happy that everything I am doing is clicking with my audiences and striking the right chord with the listeners even today. I think my USP is that I am blessed with a very unique tone and definitely I have worked on my vocals especially in the last few songs where I am trying to do different genres.

I am very thankful to my audience and my listeners who accepted me in various genres. Of course I did a lot of romantic number initially but for the last few years I have done many fast and peppy, loungey numbers in a husky tone. Being versatile and giving a different side to my listeners has also been one of my important USP. Of course, there is a huge contribution of the music composers who have believed in me and nonetheless my supporters and fans who have always encouraged me to do something new with every song. The kind of love they gave me encouraged me to work harder and give my super best to every song.

Well thank you, it feels so good to hear that I am a gifted singing sensation of Bollywood but I would like to say that even if you are gifted with a good tone, you have to constantly work on yourself to maintain that uniqueness.

As I said earlier – there are a lot of voices in the industry so standing out from the rest and maintaining that uniqueness for composers to come up and say that they would want Tulsi Kumar to render a particular song takes something exclusive. To achieve this, practicing is very important and analytical hearing of different genres of music is also very important. Since my childhood, I have always been highly bent towards music and have always emphasized a lot of learning music. Two very important people who have always motivated and inspired me are my parents, my mother and my father – Shri Gulshan Kumar Ji and Sudesh Kumari.

I used to hum songs in my childhood as a 6 year old but obviously at that age had no idea that want to pursue a career in music. It was my father who spotted this and realized that Tusli has a good voice and asked me if I wanted to learn music. I readily agreed and then started taking light classical music coaching from Suresh Wadkar Ji’s academy. My father has always inspired me to work very hard. I started that young and then through the journey with lots of ups and downs. My father leaving us when I was 12 was very hard to come to terms with but then my mom took over in a very big way. She still inspires and constantly motivates me.

No matter how huge a success my song is, my mom always pin points flaws in me and I think that’s what has kept me in the game for so long. I constantly believe in bettering myself as an artiste. My mom is my biggest critic and so there is no scope for an outsider to replace her in that role. My mom and dad are two biggest inspirations in my life who have always helped me keep my feet grounded.

Your recent songs have done wonders in the industry. What would be your suggestions for budding singers in the industry?

Touchwood! In the last few year, I have had some really great numbers to my credit right from Soch Na Sake to Paniyon Sa, the cult music song like Tum jo aaye zindagi mein baat ban gayi, Hum mar jaayenge from Aashiqui 2 but this year has been exceptionally good. Thanks to the music composers for the faith they have shown in me. Starting from Tu Laung Main Elaichi (Punjabi Track), The Kabir Singh song Tera Ban Jaunga had a great impact on the audience to the extent that I had random people walking up to me at Film parties, malls and public places saying that they were in absolute love with that song.

Of course then there were songs like O Saki Saki and Shehar ki ladki where people heard me singing in a very brunch tone. Then the very futuristic POP song in Saahoo Enni Soni which was a duet with Guru Randhawa was very appreciated too. There was Haiya Ho from Marjaavaan which was again a very different kind of track in a very groovy and husky tone. Then the year ended with Akhiyon Se Goli Mare and independent track Nahin Jaana which was a solo. So, yes the year went pretty good. I hear these songs playing everywhere and feel extremely happy about it.

To the budding singers I would say – whatever you do, give it your 200 percent, do it with your full heart and go through a training process before you enter in to singing. Being a one song wonder is something very easy but staying in the game for long, starting from one genre and graduating into different zones over a period is what establishes you as a complete singer. If you want to go a long way, formal training and learning will be of great importance and it will give you acceptance in the industry in a sustained way.

What all is in the pipeline from Tulsi Kumar in the year 2020 ?

In the year 2020, I am doing playback for Street Dancer 3D. Apart of from that there are a lot of other movie playbacks lined up. Most importantly, I will be focusing on a lot of independent music this year. You will see and hear me in my upcoming singles that I am working on, few collaborations and in some music videos. So this year is very important. Independent music is something which gives me a lot of satisfaction and creative freedom as an artiste and so I will be creating lot of independent music this year. I am looking forward to that and of course film projects will continue the way they have.

What is your Take on Indo-Western music Trends?

I think everything has turned very indo western these days but like they say – each to their own. I absolutely love Indian and traditional music as well but to suit the taste of audience, lot of Indo- Western flavor has come up of late in every sphere of our lives. Even if you see clothing or fashion trends, you see a lot of Indo-Western that is coming to the market. The youngsters really connect well with that. For example, if you pick up a classic song and change its beat and tweak the lyrics a bit with different attitude of singing, you find the youth quickly connecting with it. I think that this trend is here to stay. It’s not that we don’t love our own music – There are many songs which are purely Indian, very melodious and exceptionally well crafted but yes to suit the taste of the audience and the market, everything that appeals the tastes has to be catered for and I totally stand by this.

With changing trends in Indian Music Industry do you think we are losing out on the Our Indian Classical Music?

As I mentioned before, if you pick up different people from the street and put them all in one room, everyone will be found to be having a different taste. I don’t think we are losing out of Indian Classical Music as there does exist an audience for that kind of music too. There is an audience for recreational music. There is an audience for love and romantic numbers Gazals, devotional music and so on. It is a fact that a major chunk of music is being dominated and sourced by Bollywood industry but still people who love classical do listen classical music. In India, we have takers for music of all rung and genres.

Given a chance, what is it that you might want to change in the Indian Music Industry and how?

When it comes to changing things in the industry, a lot of it has changed over the years for better. However that fact remains that the music industry is still very male dominated. There are more male oriented songs. When it comes to judicious division of parts between males and females even in a duet, it’s not 50-50. The females are still given lesser parts. However, now things are changing for good with lot of female oriented movie scripts and even lyrics. We are now witnessing a surge in opportunities for female artistes to come up in films as well as in the independent zone. I think women have come up in a big way and also there is an increased acceptance for everything related to them. Another point is regarding production and promotion of original music. This seems to be the times of recreation of existing music as there is lot of market and acceptance for it and I am not against it but it would be better if originals of the kind which can be recreated in future are also made. There should be more originals which rule our music charts. In the longer run, more originals will be a better and more preferred thing for our industry as a whole.

Your message to our Readers?

My message to the lovely readers of AspiringShe – as the name of this magazine itself suggests that women can do anything and everything and there is nothing stopping her from aspiring to become a better and more successful version of herself. As women, we grow a lot of unwanted barriers in our mind. For example, if we are married we cannot do certain things, if we have a child, we again cannot concentrate on our career and the list in unending.

But if I give my own example, I have been married for 4 years now and have a baby too who is 2. As far as I am concerned, my career has advanced more rapidly after my marriage and even more rapidly since I became a mother. So there are no such formulas or stereotypes, especially negative ones which we as women should nurture in our minds. At the same time, it would not be right to say that everything happens on its own or comes easy. There is a lot of effort, hard work and dedication required, priorities need to be set, multitasking needs to be done but once we women have our eyes set on something and decide to get something, and are passionate about it, then nothing can stop us.
To all the women and men reading this interview I would like to reassure you that you have it in you.

If you give your 200 percent in everything you do, be passionate about what you do and don’t believe in giving yourself excuses, you can achieve anything. Excuses tend to bog us down, instead we must fancy and build ourselves into hardworking go getters.

What are your suggestions to the budding singers who are wanting to get a break in Bollywood?

I think I am the right person to answer this as my father Shri Gulshan Kumar Ji was a support to a lot of newer talents. When the industry was being run by a handful of people, my father introduced new voices in the industry. He had the daring to introduce new artistes like Sonu Nigam, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu and many others. He was the one who brought them in the front when the industry was being ruled merely by 3 or 4 singers.

I think as an individual, I am trying to take my father’s dream forward. To this effect, I have even started an academy which trains upcoming budding singers, artists, also in subjects like film direction, music production.

This is working under the name T-series Stageworks Academy and Gulshan Kumar Film & Television Institute of India. This is my way of giving back to the industry. I strongly suggest that everyone who comes to Mumbai with an aim to become a part of music or film industry must first train themselves and prepare properly before an audition or a reality show. There is no rule on how to get a break or do well in Bollywood but yes if someone works hard, with passion and has leant his craft well then nothing can keep him behind.

Even for me, 13 years have not been easy despite people having an impression of me being the owner of one of the biggest label like T series. I still feel I had to work hard, constantly be a student, innovate myself and experiment with myself besides taking care of my voice to be able to come and be counted amongst the leading singers of today’s times.

Your Inspirational One Liner Quote For all your fans?

An inspirational line as I speak which come to my mind – Duniya Hila Denge Hum – with love and passion for your work, you can achieve great heights and literally shake up the world.

What is your idea of the singing Contests running in India and on judging them?

I would be very happy to be on the judging panel of any of the singing competition running in India. The newer talent getting recognized through these show or through reality shows gets opportunities to showcase themselves. Only I feel that a certain amount of drama which accompanies it could be done away with and more focus must be on various singing aspects.

As a child I remember going on the sets of Saregama, when Sonu Nigam Ji was the host. My father had gone there as a guest. I remember it was a contest purely based on music – picking up the Taal, picking up the Sur, picking up a song when a scale is played and a lot more aspects of playback singing. There are a lot of these things which are missing in today’s reality shows and contests. So when I become a part of a reality show or a contest, I would like to revive all those things and then probably be on the judging panel.

Your Favorites:

Singers – Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Kavita Krishnamurthy
Artists – Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Adelle
Music Composer – Madan Mohan Ji from yesteryears. Mithoon & AR Rehman from the contemporary
Movie – DDLJ as our generation grew up with that.
Bollywood Couple – Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol
Singing Sensation as per you – Sunidhi Chauhan
Travel Destination – London, Greence, Mykonos
Food – Anything Oriental, especially Vegetarian Sushi
Album of the Year –Kabir Singh Soundtrack
Track of the year – O Saki Saki

How and when did you plan to start with your own Nutrition Brand ?

Since I was a child I was interested in biology and to know about how a body works, my basic graduation was from Microbiology stream and worked as a Microbiologist, I also did a course in Medical transcription for the same passion of learning more about the body.

As life was going ahead, I met with a small accident when my hand just got twisted along with my bikes handle I suffered with a fracture just below my wrist.

Even after 2 months my fracture did not heal and we discovered that I had osteopenic bones, just at the age of 34. his event triggered me to look into self nutrition and my childhood dream of studying about the body systems crept up again.

I did a basic course in nutrition to start with, then I pursued a Sports nutrition course as well and started counseling as a Nutritionist under my brand ‘Saundarya Nutrition and Beauty Consultancy’, side by side I kept upgrading my skills and knowledge and did my Diploma in Nutrition and health Education.

I received a gold medal in my Diploma for my excellence. Immediately after completing my Diploma I enrolled myself for the ‘Master’s in Dietetics and Food Service Management’.

What’s the core idea behind Activense?

In 2016, we rebranded our company as ‘Activense’ – Your Nutrition Partner, with a mission of making millions of people Happier, Healthier, Prosperous and Positive. What does Activense mean?

So it is a combination of Active-Sensible-Effective, keep yourself active, eat sensibly and experience the effectiveness !!!

Please if you can elaborate on your thoughts on crash Diets and weight loss myths.

Eating sensibly means having wholesome food which gives you all the nutrients and hence a Crash diet is a big No No. Crash diets will give you a temporary effect by showing that you have lost weight but it is majorly the water weight and muscle weight which you loose and a huge amount of nutrient deficiency is created hampering many functions of your body , the effects of which you experience later.

Many of you complain of weight gain immediately after you are off the Crash diet, the deficiencies create cravings to eat more food and also the muscle loss lowers your metabolism induces more fat storage. Thus a viscious cycle of crash diet and increased fats is created.

Your goals for 2020 ?

Goal 2020 – To help minimum 1000 people to improve their health and train atleast 100 individuals to chart out a healthy diet schedule for themselves and their family.

Your Fitness Inspiration ?

There are various people who keep on inspiring me, like Hema Malini ji, Rekha ji who in their 70s and 60s have kept them so fit. Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Milind Soman and his mom, to mention specially, then a very good friend of mine Mukul Talwalkar. They all keep on inspiring me for various reasons

Message to our readers !

Stay active, eat sensibly and stay healthy👍
